Encounter erupts in north Kashmir

Baramulla, June 16 (UNI) A fierce encounter erupted between the militants and the security forces at Sopore in this north Kashmir district this evening, official sources said.

They said the security forces, on a tip off, conducted a search operation at Zaloora village in Sopore area.

As the troops reached a particular place, militants hiding in a house opened fire on them which was effectively retaliated, the sources added.

The gunfight was on between the holed up militants and the security forces when reports last came in.
