Eight killed in two road accidents

Hyderabad, June 16 (UNI) Five Bihari labourers were killed when an unidentified vehicle ran over them while they were sleeping on the road on National Highway-five at Naidupet mandal in Nellore district today.

Police said the five labourers, working in a cement factory, hailed from Barnalpur village of Nalanda district in Bihar.

The mishap occurred when an unidentified vehicle lost control and hit them. Five people were killed on the spot.

In another incident, three people including a Congress leader were killed and one person was injured when a car in which they were travelling dashed against a tree near Gubagunta village of Allagadda mandal in Kurnool district today.

Police said the victims included Allagadda mandal Congress leader S Venkatrami Reddy. While two persons were killed on the spot, Mr Reddy succumbed to injuries in a local hospital.

Mr Reddy's son Sharat Reddy who was injured in the accident was admitted to a private hospital, police added.
