Drive to check power supply at exorbitant rates in Haryana
Chandigarh, June 16 (UNI) The Haryana Dakshin Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has launched a special drive to check the illegal practice of bulk supply consumers selling power to group housing holders and plot holders at exorbitant rates.
This drive by the Nigam has been launched in the districts of Faridabad and Gurgaon where the practice is found to be prevalent.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Nigam said that vigilance teams were conducting raids to prevent such unscrupulous acitivies. Any person found indulging in such a practice would attract penal action including disconnection of power supply, he said.
He said the rates prescribed by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) for bulk supply consumers was Rs 4.19 per unit, hence a bulk connection consumer can only bill his group housing society members at this rate.
A number of bulk supply consumers in Faridabad and Gurgaon districts are charging much higher than the prescribed rate even to the tune of Rs 8-10 per unit from end users.
