DD B'lore challenges CAT order on employee termination
Bangalore, June 16 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today admitted a writ petition filed by Doordarshan Bangalore, challenging the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)'s order setting aside the termination of services of one of its woman employees.
The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice N Kumar, passed an interim order staying the impugned order of CAT.
The respondent, Sylajaa, who was in the service of DD Bangalore as Programme Executive, had been tried and convicted by DD authorities on charges of corruption. The appeal filed by her was pending.
In the meanwhile, the petitioner, the Director of DD Bangalore, had terminated the services of Ms Sylajaa. However, she challenged the dismissal order before the CAT and the latter allowed it.
The petitioner has challeged the order of CAT as not maintainable.
