Hyderabad, June 16 (UNI) The seat-sharing talks between the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) for the two-phase panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh on June 28 and July two, resumed tonight--the penultimate date for filing of nominations.

''Both the parties are committed to forge an alliance to completely uproot the TDP from Telangana. Hence identification of the seats based on each party's relative strengths is time-consuming'' TRS leader a Narendra told reporters before the talks resumed .

Accord was achieved with regard to 70 to 75 of the 450 ZPTC seats and the TRS was ready to settle for a lesser of number of seats than it had demanded with the sole aim of ensuring that the anti-Telangana TDP did not not win even a single seat in the region said.

The understanding would be finalised well in time to facilitate filing of nominations tomorrow, the last date for the purpose, he asserted confidence.

The party was keen to align with the Congress only to give a push to the movement for separate Telangana. The Panchayat election results would not, however, have any bearing on the formation of the separate state, Mr Narendra said.
