Congress-TRS clinch deal for 5 Telangana districts
Hyderabad, June 16 : UPA constitutents, Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) reached an understanding for seat-sharing in five districts of the Telergana region, while postponing the talks concerning four other districts.
Emerging out the talks, Pradesh Congress President K Keshava Rao and senior TRS leader and Union Minister of State for Rural development A Narendra described the parleys as ''smooth and fruitful''. The Poll-pact was clinched for the ZPTCs in the districts of Medak, Warangal, Mahboobnagar, Khammam and Nizamabad, they said, adding that seat sharing for ZPTCs in the districts of Adilabad, Karimnaar, Rangareddy and Nalgonda would be reached latest by tomorrow.
Earlier, Congress Medak District President Suresh Shektar and TRS legislator D Padma announced that the seat-sharing formula under which the latter would contest 15 ZPTC seats out of the total 46 seats in the district. The TRS would get an equal number of MPTC seats also, she added.
Sources in both the parties said the TRS was likely to be allotted about 75 ZPTC seats of the total 440 ZPTC seats by the Congress, which had announced to contest the polls in alliance with the TRS and the CPI.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Congress Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader G Venkataswamy and former TRS Minister T Harish Rao also participated in the talks.
