Nine districts under Electrification Scheme
New Delhi, June 16 : The Monitoring Commitee of the Ministry of Power has given in-principle approval to the proposals for bringing nine districts of Karnataka under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme to be implemented in the 11th Plan period.
Union Minister for Power Sushil Kumar Shinde in his letter to Rajya Sabha member B K Hariprasad said that the nine districts of Gulbarga, Belgaum, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Chamarajanagar were considered for the implementation of the scheme and the preliminary work on project preparation, project appraisal and inviting tenders that can be started.
