16th Gulf Monsoon scooter rally on June 25
Mumbai, June 16 (UNI) Some of the best two-wheeler riders including last year's winner Manjit Singh and contenders Shamim Khan, Rustom Patel and Badal Doshi will vie for top honours in the 16th monsoon Gulf monsoon scooter rally to be held on June 25.
The monsoon challenge is being oganised by Sportscraft and sponsored by Gulf Oil under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports CLubs of India.
Addressing a press conference, Srikant Karani of Sportscraft informed that the rally this yeat would be held along the backwoods of Vashi-Nerul-Belapur.
He also said given the nature of the rally they have limited the entries to 40 on a first come first serve basis, adding, the event would be flagged off at Our Lady's Home in Parel and would culminate at K Stars Hotel, CBD Belapur.
The route upto Vashi from Parel would be a non-competitive zone after which the from Vashi to K Stars hotel would be the competitive route. Of the 70 km rally around 30 km would comprise of as the competitive route, he added.
There will be three classes in which the event will be run - Class S-1 above 80 upto 110 cc - two stroke; Class S-2 above 110 cc upto 160 cc- two stroke and Class FSG upto 160 cc - Four Stroke, he stated.
In addition to cash prizes and trophies for the top five finishers, there are also trophies for the best and second best riders from Thane, Pune, Nashik and Mumbai.
The best first timer will be awarded the Late Firdosh Vajifdar trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1000, he added.
