Uma criticises Vajpayee for defending Rahul

Bhopal, June 15 (UNI) Bharatiya Janashakti President Uma Bharti today strongly criticised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for defending Rahul Mahajan.

''I am saddened that the person whom I regard as father is giving statements in defence of a boy like Rahul Mahajan,'' Ms Bharti, who arrived here as a part of her 'Bharat Bachao Yatra', told reporters here.

''This has made it clear that there is no place for dedicated and people with satvic nature in the BJP,'' the sadhvi said.

She compared Mr Vajpayee to the Mahabharata's 'Bhishma Pitamah', who was shielding 'Duryodhana' and shooting arrows at 'Abhimanyu'.

Criticising Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the firebrand leader said no result would come out of the Pachmarhi meeting.

Earlier, Ms Bharti received a warm welcome from her supporters.

She also addressed her supporters near the state party office.
