Torrent Power signs JV with POWERGRID

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) Torrent Power today signed a joint venture with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) for establishing dedicated transmission lines between the 1100 MW SUGEN gas-based mega power project, being set up at Akhakhol and Dehgam in Gujarat.

POWERGRID will hold 26 per cent equity while Torrent Power will hold the remaining 74 per cent in the joint venture, a company statement said here.

Torrent Power, one of the leading private players in the power sector, has a generation capacity of 1600 MW and distributes power in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat.
