Tata motors in expansion mode

Jamshedpur, Jun 15: India's largest commercial vehicle producer Tata Motors will double up its production in its Jamshedpur and Lucknow units within four years, said company president A P Arya.

Talking to newsmen here today, Mr Arya said at present the production of medium and heavy commercial vehicles in its Jamshedpur unit has been recorded 300 per day and the company had planned to enhance its production within short span.

About Tata Novus, the tractor, which was launched last year, Mr Arya said, '' The vehicle has good future in the domestic market and 20 to 30 per cent indigenous parts are being used in the vehicle while rest are being imported form Korea. '' He said the company was using its tipping applications in the mining sector and the same technology would be used in the tractors as well.

Mr Arya said the support chain partners are very important and the company would give emphasis on networking and dealership aspects to expand its business.

In view of hike in fuel price,the company has also introduced alternative arrangements and the Lucknow unit is producing CNG vehicles for Delhi and other parts of the country,Mr Arya said.

He informed the company had acquired land for the production of small vehicle in West Bengal's Singrur and the state government has been very cooperative in setting up the unit,he added.
