Sultry weather prevails in UP

Lucknow, June 15 (UNI) People continued to brave sultry weather in Uttar Pradesh following dry weather conditions and blistering sun at most places.

In the last 24 hrs, Varanasi, Allahabad and Jhansi divisions registered increase in the mercury level, which shot up 1-3 degrees Celsius above normal.

However, mercury dipped in the state capital in Lucknow where the maximum temperature was recorded at 38 degrees, Met office said here.

Meanwhile, rainfall/thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in UP in the next 24 hrs.

The monsoon is yet not in sight, although the state had experienced several spells of pre-monsoon showers early June.
