Suicide every alternate day in Kanpur
Kanpur, June 15 (UNI) There has been a recent spurt in suicide cases in Kanpur with such a crime being reported every alternate day in the last two months.
Majority of the cases have financial hardship, domestic quarrel and failure in examination at its core, according to police.
Two youth -- in separate incidents -- committed suicide in Barra area of the industrial town over minor issues on June 13.
While, one of the victim was a youth, who was scolded by his father, another was a newly married -- peeved over a tiff with her husband.
Interestingly, the number of women taking the extreme step is fairly high as per the suicide case statistics with the police department.
Eminent Kanpur-based psychiatrist Dr Archana Verma said mostly people committed suicide when clouded by extreme tension and frustration.
''In this age, the ambition quotient is much higher than the will power in a person. This breeds frustration and insecurity, pushing towards the edge,'' she observed.
Dr Verma claimed ego was also one of the major causes of suicide.
