Seven killed, IED blast in high security zone in J- K
Srinagar, June 15 (UNI) Seven persons, including two militants, were killed while an abortive bid was made by ultras to target senior security force officers when they triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Militants detonated a powerful IED planted in a scooter on Srinagar-Uri highway, at Baramulla in north Kashmir this afternoon, official sources said.
Offices of a number of senior security officers are located in the same area.
A Beacon official, a women and a child were injured in the blast.
They were admitted to district hospital.
Besides, the sources said unidentified gunmen shot dead Pervez Ahmad Bhat, manager of a petrol pump, at Laroo in Anantnag last night.
Gunmen later killed a former militant Azad Ahmad Dar at Mirpora.
Sources said a surrendered militant Abdul Rashid Khan, who was shot at and wounded by militants at Sopore in Baramulla district, died in the hospital this morning. Another person wounded in a shootout at Kupwara two days ago also died in the hospital.
Militant shot at and wounded Bilal Ahmad, a former ultra, at Safa Kadal in the downtown city last night. He was admitted to Sher-e- Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura in a critical condition.
An official spokesman said security forces gunned down two militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) in two different encounters at Gathak Nallah and Malai Top Surrando in Doda district late last night. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
He said militants entered the house of one Abdul Ahad and later killed him by slitting his throat.
