Ruling SP youth wing leader shot dead

Kanpur, June 15 (UNI) A ruling Samajwadi Party's youth wing leader was shot dead in broad daylight in the Kanyanpur area here today.

The SP youth wing, Lohia Vahini district secretary Harshkant (30) was sitting at his shop when about six unidentified misreants fired indiscriminate bullet shots at him, police said.

He was taken to hospital, but succumbed during treatment.

Later, an irate mob indulged in vandalism. However, the police soon brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, the deceased's kin claimed they had a land dispute with their influential neighbours, who had allegedly encroached upon the property.

No arrest had so far been made and investigations were on.
