Rajiv assassins on fast in Vellore prison
Vellore, June 15 (UNI) Nalini and Murugan, convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case and lodged in Vellore Central Prison, are on an indefinite fast demanding that their daughter Arithra, living in Sri Lanka, be given a visa to study in Tamil Nadu.
While Nalini's death sentence was commuted to life, her husband Murugan's mercy petition is pending.
The girl, now 15, was born in the prison and was later sent to Sri Lanka to stay with her grandparents.
The couple had gone on a fast earlier this year to press the authorities to permit Arithra to visit them, following which she came to from the island nation to Vellore to see them.
