Rahul Bajaj elected to Rajya Sabha
Mumbai, June 15: Veteran industrialist Rahul Bajaj was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharastra Assembly in the by-elections held today, with the support of NCP, BJP and Shiv Sena.
Mr Bajaj polled 195 votes in the House of 288 while Congress candidate Avinash Pandey could manage only 90 votes.
According to official sources Shiv Sena MLA Gulabrao Gawande could not come for voting as his flight was delayed while RPI(A) Republican Party of India, MLA, Pappu Kalani and Bahujan Mahasangh MLA, reportedly did not turn up for voting in protest against Mr Bajaj's anti-reservation statements.
