R S Gavai is Bihar Governor

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) The President today appointed Mr R S Gavai as Governor of Bihar.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan Communique said the appointment will come into effect with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.

Mr Gavai was President of the Republican party of India.

Mr Buta Singh had to resign as Governor of Bihar in the wake of indictment by the Supreme Court for recommending the dissolution of the State Assembly last year.
