Munda sops for homeless in his courtyard

Jamshedpur, Jun 15 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today announced an investment of Rs 5000 crore for the construction of two lakh houses under Dindayal Awas Yojna at Seraikela-Kharsawan district of the state.

Mr Munda, representing Kharsawan constituency of the district, said at a function at Seraikela that the people beloging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) would be the beneficiaries from the scheme.

''The government is committed to provide shelters to the all homeless people in the state and would ensure that the benefits of development reach all the people,'' he said.

The Chief Minister said the government would also promote Seraikela silk in collaboration with the Institue of Fashion Designing and the Khadi Gram Udoyag for which five thousand people would be imparted training.

The Kolhan region is the largest producer of cocoons in the country and the government is planning to develop silk industries in the region to attract the international markets,'' he said.

He stressed on largescale industrialisation in the state for the generation of employment as about 1.5 lakhs youth were becoming jobless every year after completing of graduation.

Mr Munda said a meeting would be convened soon in which all the MPs in the state would be invited to discuss the utilisation of minerals, particularly Uranium.

He lamented that despite a huge reserve of Uranium in the Singbhum region,it could not be tapped for power generation as the mineral was being despatched outside the state.

Mr Munda also attended serveral other programmes in the district during his hectic visit to his home turf.
