LG calls for Higher productivity
New Delhi, Jun 15 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor B L Joshi today said engineers and builders owe a great responsibility in improving the work environment to achieve higher productivity and desired quality by improved means of Human Resource Management.
He was speaking at a seminar on 'Human Resource Management in Building Industry' at the 12th Annual Convention of the Indian Building Congress here.
''Construction industry has great potential for employment generation and boost in construction sector throws a challenge for Human Resource Development,'' he said.
Emphasising that the training of construction workers was very vital to the economy and quality of works, he said there was an urgent need to set standards for producing world-class technocrats and management executives in this field.
Mr Joshi added that in order to stay in business, the construction industry would have to adopt quality, environment, health and safety considerations into business strategy and long term planning.
The lt Governor also released the IBC souvenir on this occasion and gave away IBC Awards for 'excellence in built environment'.
Also present on this occasion were Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, Urban Development Secretary Anil Baijal and Central Public Works Department Director General B Majumdar.
