Mumbai June 15: The India charter of the Indo-France Chamber of Commerce (IFCCI) exhibited French technological skills including a short film at the J J School of Architecture here.

The objective of the exhibition was to increase visibility of French civil engineering, environment, transport, rural development and energy technology widely in India.

Director IFFCI Jayshree Jakhada said,''These exhibitions are part of a series to demonstrate and project France as a technological power by enhancing its image across the country.'' Around four to five exhibitions were held in the last few months specially in Delhi and Mumbai. Some of these exhibitions revolved around nanotechnology and and string theory technologies, Jakhada added.

French Consulate General De France Press Attache Hugues Jacquet said, ''France today is a more diversified country, with several academic institutions offering english programs at par with its anglo-saxon cousins.'' Recently, France also demonstrated its defence technology during a joint military excercise. Hence French technology offers both civilian and military technology at its best, said Jacquet.

On education, he dwelt that English language has finally arrived and an increasing number of French people now speak English. In addition, French institutions have begun offering degree programs in English for aspiring talented individuals from other countries.

Jacquet pointed that subsequent visit by French Minister of External Trade, Kristine Lagarde, would boost research and development activities between both countries on a larger scale.
