Hooda for timely completion of irrigation projects
Chandigarh, June 15 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has directed the State Irrigation Department to ensure timely completion of the Dadupur-Shahabad-Nalvi irrigation scheme and the BML-Hansi-Butana Branch Multi Purpose Link Channel, saying both these projects aimed at benefiting the farmers in the state.
The Chief Minister, who was reviewing the functioning of the State Irrigation Department, directed that the pace of the ongoing work on these schemes should be speeded up.
The Dadupur-Shahabad-Nalvi scheme would be developed in three stages at a total cost of Rs 267.27 crore. The BML-Hansi Branch-Butana Branch Multi Purpose Link Channel would cost Rs 260 crore. Mr Hooda directed that this link channel must be completed by June 2007.
Mr Hooda directed Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Irrigation) N Balabhaskar to ensure that senior functionaries of the department supervise the developmental works. The quality of material used for the developmental works should be checked, he added.
