Hindu Mahasabha disrupts Bible class; allege conversions

Dharamshala, June 15 (UNI) Activists of Hindu Mahasabha disrupted a Bible class being held in a hotel in Kangra district alleging that local people were being enticed to convert to Christianity.

Hindu Mahasabha State President Nalinder Gautam, along with several other activists barged into Icchhi Hotel near here yesterday, where the Bible study class was on for about 50 local Christians, alleging that attempt was being made to proselytize Hindus to Christianity.

He said a group of Chandigarh-based Christian missionaries was enticing local poor people by providing them free food and other benefits to allure them to their religion.

If it was a Bible Class as they claim, why was it being held at a hotel in the town instead of a church, he questioned.

The local organiser and resident of Mandi district, Baghat, refuting the allegations said only a Bible class was being held for the local Christians who included women and children.

A team of police officials said nothing has been found at the spot that suggested that 'forcible' conversions were taking place here.

They, however, confiscated a few books and other literature from the hotel room and said these would be returned after investigations.
