Coordination Committee to discuss BMIC issue

Mysore, Jun 15: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today said the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor issue, which has put the JD(S)-BJP Government on shaky ground with the coalition partners disagreeing on the issue, will be discussed at the Coordination Committee of the Government in a couple of days.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the issue would be discussed at the Coordination Committee meeting as Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had just returned from his Dubai tour. The decision taken at the meeting would be final.

While the JD(S) was for taking over the BMIC project from its executors, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises, the BJP wanted only the 2,450 acres of excess land acquired by NICE to be reclaimed and handed over to the farmers concerned. The BJP was opposed to taking over the project from NICE.

Clarifying that he was neither invited nor attending the inaugural of the first phase of the BMIC project tomorrow, Mr Yediyurappa said his party was interested in the development of the State as a large number of investors were looking towards the State.

The Government's priority would be to provide them with good infrastructure, he added.

Referring to the cheque for Rs five lakh issued by the State Government to NICE bouncing, he said it was the mistake by the Public Works Department and the financial position of the State Government was sound. There was no dearth of funds for taking up projects and he would make a statement in this regard in the Assembly, scheduled to begin on June 19.
