Committee formed to prepare blueprint for Mysore development
Mysore, Jun 15 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has formed a high power committee to prepare a blueprint for the comprehensive development of the palace city, Housing Minister D T Jayakumar informed today.
Speaking at an interactive programme 'Beautiful Mysore,' organised by the district administration to elicit the views of people from all walks of life on the proposal, he said the members of the Committee, headed by the district Deputy Commissioner, would meet once in 15 days to chalkout the future course of action to implement the development plan.
Discussions were held on a 21-point programme placed by the Minister which touched upon various topics, including the conduct of the world famous Dasara festivities, heritage conservation, infrastructure development, improving tourism destinations and ropeway project at the Chamundi Hills.
A majority of them suggested that a separate authority should be constituted to conduct the world famous Dasara festivities every year in the city. However, there was widespread opposition for constructing a ropeway at the Chamundi Hills.
Mr Jayakumar, also district incharge Minister, assured that all the suggestions would be placed before the state government for consideration.
Academicians, bureaucrats, experts, legislators, officials and NGOs took part in the interactive session.
