Charge-sheet against ''corrupt'' teacher in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 15 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation has produced a charge-sheet against a teacher in an anti-corruption court here for having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, an official spokesman said today.

He said the Vigilance Organisation produced the charge-sheet in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir yesterday against Mohammad Yousuf Mir.

The charge-sheet was filed against Mir for having raised assets disproportionate to his known sources of income when he was posted as a Planning Assistant in the Zonal Education Office at Kakapora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

The case was registered on September 17, 1997 on the allegations that the accused had amassed huge wealth by indulging in corrupt and illegal practices, the spokesman added.

During the investigations, he said it was established that the accused had raised assets both movable and immovable to the tune of Rs 14,81,616 as against the total income of Rs 8,57,00 for ten years from August 1987 to August 1997.

The value of disproportionate assets was calculated to be to the tune of Rs 7,18,289, he added.

The spokesman said after accord of prosecution sanction by the state government, the charge-sheet was produced in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir.
