Cauvery water release from Grand Anaicut Jun 16

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Jun 15 (UNI) The Grand Anaicut will be opened tomorrow to release Cauvery water for delta districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam.

According to PWD sources here today, the water released from the Stanley Reservoir on June 12 had reached the Tiruchirapalli Town.

It was expected to reach the Grand Anaicut tonight. The water level in the reservoir this evening stood at 113.13 feet with an inflow of 953 cusecs.

The outflow is being maintained at 15,013 cusecs for irrigation purposes. Farmers have more good news. The cooperative banks in Thanjavur and Kumbakonam have already started releasing short-term crop loans for kurvai cultivation with Rs one crore disbursed already.

The Tamil Nadu Government had already made arrangements to release Rs 50 crore through cooperative banks for the delta districts.
