Canadian Interanation School opens new campus in B'lore

Bangalore, June 15 (UNI) The Canadian International School (CIS) opened a new campus at Yelahanka on the outskirts of the city today to provide truly international education to students.

Speaking on the occasion, School Principal Brian Tinker said international students grow up and learn within a cultural milieu that often had little or no connection with either of their parents' background and developed a trend that had come to be known as 'the Third Culture Kid' phenomena. The CIS, Bangalore, which already had a campus on Kodegihalli main road, Sahakarnagar, over the years understood these complexities and offered a truly interrnational education, teaching students to respect and understand both their own cultures and those of others.

He said ''The overwhelmingly positive attitude of our students combined with imaginative teaching, by our international staff, to produce the highest possible academic standards.'' The new school, spread over 15 acres of land, housed a pre kindergarten, elementary and secondary sections, with state-of-the-art attendant facilities.

Mr Tinker said CIS was an accredited IB World School and member of the Council of International Schools. The administration and faculty for the school were drawn from Canada, UK, US, Australia and India.

CIS was a co-educational day-cum-residential school, with more than 80 per cent foreign students, mainly from Canada, which had set up several companies in the city, he added.

Purpose designed structures, multi-media centres, indoor sports facilities, multi-purpose halls, separate dormitories, open plan ktichen and cafeteria, football ground, basketball, tennis and volley ball courts, swimming pools and gymnasium were some of the facilities available at the school.

The campus was opened by High Commissioner of Canada to India Lucie Edwards.
