Bihar government to introduce five day week: Nitish
Patna, Jun 15 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced the state government would also introduce five day week for its employees, on the pattern of Central government.
Now the working days would be from Monday to Friday. Office hours will be from 0900 hrs to 1730 hrs.
Talking to mediapersons, he claimed that with the introduction of new working period, work culture of the state government employees would improve and they would work with more vigour for the development of the state.
He said the Centre should not ask the state governments to reduce the sales tax and instead reduce the excise duties.
Mr Kumar ruled out any cut in the sales tax, saying state government had reduced the sales tax earlier and it was already at its lowest level. Sales tax was much higher in other states, he noted.
After the UPA government came to power at the Centre, prices of essentials had increased alarmingly, Mr Kumar said adding the recent hike in petro products would make the lives of the common people miserable.
