ASI dies amid fighting between two groups

Rohtak, Jun 15 (UNI) An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Haryana Police was killed while he was trying to stop two groups of people fighting with each other here today.

Jagdish Chander (52), incharge of old bus stand police station, was attacked by lathis and broken bottles by some men in the warring groups at Kachi Bari road when he tried to intervene. He was severely injured and succumbed to his injuries later.

The body of the ASI, who belonged to Didwari village of Panipat district, was handed over to his family members.

A case was registered against ten ''unidentified'' persons but no arrests had been made so far, police said.
