5 suspended as polio case detected
Chhatarpur (MP), Jun 15 (UNI) Five health officials, including two doctors, have been suspended after a fresh polio case was detected in this district despite the pulse polio campaign.
Rajnagar block's Paya village resident Chhotelal Ahirwar's 7-month-old son Kapil was detected to be polio-stricken on April 19 and the case was confirmed on May 2, official sources said.
State Health Commissioner Ashok Barnawal yesterday ordered suspension of two doctors (-) Dr Pankaj Rastogi and Dr R K Gupta and three health workers (-) Ram Sukumari Vishwakarma, Shyamlal Yadav and Mrs Krishna Soni.
A team of the World Health Organisation also visited the village.
Special pulse polio campaign will be launched in Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Sagar and Katni district of Madhya Pradesh and Jhansi, Banda, Hamirpur and Mahoba districts of Uttar Pradesh in a bid to eradicate polio from the country.
