Xenitis group's computer manufacturing unit declared SEZ
Kolkata, June 14 (UNI) The Rs 530 crore Xenitis Group's computer manufacturing plant at Sugandha in the Hooghly district in West Bengal has been declared a special economic zone (SEZ) by the Centre.
''The SEZ status to the computer hardware manufacturing factory will go a long way in providing fillip to IT investment in the state,'' Xenitis Group chairman Santanu Ghosh said.
Once fully operational the factory would provide employment opportunities to 2,000 people.
Meanwhile, Xenitis, which manufactures ''Amar PC'' brand of personal computers, is also planning to foray into chip manufacturing.
The company is planning to form joint ventures with the state and central government for forming a joint venture.
It is also trying to rope in a Taiwanese company as the technical collaborator in the project, according to reports here.
