Two coaches of Shatabdi express catch fire

Mumbai, Jun 14: Two coaches of Super fast Ambedabad bound Shatabdi express caught fire at 0010 hrs today while maintenance work of the train was under progress at the carshed in Mumbai Central.

The Western Railway Spokesperson Bhagwat Dahisarkar said here that at around 0010 hrs while maintenance work of the train was going on, two bogies of the train caught fire.

Fire was brought under control within two hours with the help of two fire engines and two water tankers. However, there was no casualty.

Mr Dahisarkar said the Shatabdi Express, which was scheduled to leave for Ahmedabad at 0625 hours from Mumbai Central, was rescheduled at 0900 hrs after attachment of two spare coaches.

Cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the investigation is in progress, he added.
