Train runs over auto-rickshaw in Anand, 2 killed

Vadodara, Jun 14 (UNI) Two persons were killed as a train ran over an auto-rickshaw at an unmanned level crossing near Tarapur, about 45 km from here, today.

Reports reaching the Vadodara Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office here said the train 525 Anand-Khambhat memu dragged the auto-rickshaw to a distance of about 30 mtrs from the accident site resulting in the death of the duo on the spot.

Additional DRM Naresh Malhan, said there were only two passengers travelling in the auto-rickshaw, including its driver, when the train dashed against it.

Later, Petlad police took custody of the mutilated bodies of the duo for post-mortem. Both the deceased were identified as Imam-uddin Kaji (driver-42) and Ikhtiar Ali Saiyed (45), were natives of Petlad.

The train left for Khambhat at around 1400 hrs, after two hours of detention, the sources said.
