Rupee strengthens by 5 paise, closes at Rs 45.98/99/USD

Mumbai, June 14: The rupee today closed up by five paise at Rs 45.98/99/ per US Dollar as compared to the previous close of 46.03/USD.

The Indian currency today opened at Rs 46.06/09/ US dollar and in the mid-morning session traded at Rs 45.99/USD.

The six-month forward premia was low at 0.86 as compared to 0.96 per cent on previous day and the one year premia was also low at 1.04 per cent against 1.11 per cent yesterday .

RBI fixed the reference rate at Rs 45.98/US Dollar (45.88) per USD today.

Rupee showed firm performance against other currencies: Rupee vs Euro was up at Rs 57.67(57.78), Rupee vs Pound Sterling was up Rs 84.46(84.55) and against yen it was up at Rs 39.87 (40.08).
