St Lucia, June 13 (UNI) Intermittent showers today forced the umpires to call off the fourth day's play thus enhancing West Indies' chances of avoiding defeat in the second Test against India here.

After the first session play was washed away, umpires Simon Taufell and Asad Rauf inspected the conditions at 1415 hrs local time and decided to call off the day.

The match is scheduled to 0930 hrs start tomorrow, half an hour early than usual.

Earlier, covers were on since morning and so was drizzle thus providing some relief to the hosts who were struggling at 43 for 1 after following on.

The loss of play could be another jolt to India's chances of winning series in the Caribbean after 35 years. The visitors had failed to deal the decisive blow in the Antigua Test where they were just a wicket away from victory.
