Rain rain go away, prays Chappell

St. Lucia, June 14 (UNI) After intermittent showers poured water on the visitors' bid to wrap up the second Test on day four, Team India coach Greg Chappell expected the rain god to relent on the final day and enable his bowlers get the nine West Indies wickets that separate India from victory.

After conceding a mammoth 373-run lead which invited a follow-on, Brian Lara's side were 43 for one in their second innings. But much to the disappointment of the Indians, not a single ball was bowled on day four, thanks to inclement weather.

''It's disappointing but this is not the end of the world. We need every one in India to pray that there is no more rain. we have no control over things like this and I don't want to be pessimist at this stage,'' Chappell said.

''Let's hope we have no rains tomorrow. The team is disappointed but hopeful of result morrow and there is hundred overs of play possible. Hopefully we should be able to take the remaining nine wickets,'' he added.

''It would have been much more pleasure to go up there and play, but this was not to be today. We got rest that we were not expecting. Hopefully, this rest will give the bowlers enough energy to take the nine wickets left,'' Chappell explained.

The coach said he was happy that three Indian batsmen scored century, but even more satisfacory was the team's bowling.

''The bowling was good too. To be able to bowl them out for 200 was great because the wicket was not very different on the third day what it was on first and second day. The boys learnt the lessons from the first Test and bowled more often in the danger areas,'' said Chappell.

He also singled out Virender Sehwag for exceptional bowling in the two Tests.

''We always knew Sehwag had talents as bowler. Maybe he didn't get enough opportunity before. I am working with him more at nets on his bowling, we will use him more often,'' Chappell said.
