Presiding officer arrested in Bihar
Darbhanga, Jun 14 (UNI) Ramanand Jha, who was presiding officer in recently held Panchayat election at Baheri block here, was arrested today on charges of dereliction of duty.
Official sources said that Mr Jha, a middle school teacher in Hotalpatti village, had not submitted the counterfoils of the ballot papers used for polling at Thathopur Panchayat under Baheri block. After the polling, the counterfoils were found littered around the block office where strong room was created.
A case was registered with concerned police station after recovery of the counterfoils from the premises of the block office.
