One dead in cracker explosion

Thrissur, June 14 (UNI) One person was killed in an explosion while crackers were being removed for disposal at Kundannur in Vadakkanchery today.

The deceased was identified as Kandampully Venugopal (45) hailing from Kundannur.

The exploded crackers were owned by Prabhakaran, a native of Kundannur, who was the licencee and the fireworks controctor for the Pavaratty church festival.

Fireworks for the church festival were banned by the authorities following an explosion at a firework manufacturing unit in which seven people were killed last month.
