NRI plans IT hub near airport

Kolkata, Jun 14 : US based firm San Tech Communication Inc owned by NRI Santosh Mukherjee is planning to set an IT hub near the airport.

The IT hub, to be known as San Tech Knowledge Valley, would be set up over 45 acres of land 15 km from the airport, Mukherjee said.

The plan has been discussed with state IT minister Debesh Das and a formal proposal had been submitted before the Chief Minister, he said.

The project, estimated to cost Rs 1,000 crore, would have a knowledge park, a consulting division and a development centre on telecommunications.

The project is estimated to generate employment opportunities for 10,000 people.

State IT department sources said the land for the project has been shown to Mukherjee.

Incidentally, Mukherjee is also the managing director of Rosedale Developers which is setting up a NRI campus at New Town in Rajarhat.
