Nigeria-based Indian MBBS student arrested for theft

Gurgaon, June 14 (UNI) A youth studying MBBS in Nigeria was arrested here today the by Haryana Police on charges of theft.

Police said Nitin Gupta, a resident of Devender Vihar here, was arrested on the complaint of Anil Sahay, who accused Nitin of breaking into his house last night.

According to Mr Sahay, when he tried to nab the ''stranger'' with the help of his security guard, he managed to escape but the guard was able to identify the man as Nitin.

Nitin told the police that his father was a doctor in Nigeria while his family lived in Gurgaon.

A case under Section 698, 457 and 380 of IPC has been registered against him and he was being thoroughly interrogated in view of the recent cases of Nigerians' nexus with drug peddlers, a police spokesman said.
