Naveen releases Orissa e-governance road map

Bhubaneswar, Jun 14 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today released the e-governance road map and capacity building road map for the state.

The e-governance road map is aimed at to establish a networked government for greater transparency and accountability in delivery of public service to facilitate moral and material progress of all citizen.

Preapred with the assistance from National Institute for Smart government (NISG) and Wipro Infotech, these road maps, the Chief Minister said, were considered as the first initiatives under the National e-governance plan.

Mr Patnaik said though 15 departments had been identified and selected as Mission Mode projects, initially only four departments such as Works, Rural Development, Water Resources and Infirmation and Technology would be taken up.

Describing the road maps as major milestone in effective governance, the Chief Minister said Orissa has been continuously striving to harness technology in order to provide a transparent and accountable governance by enhancing the quality of life.

He hoped the e-governance road map and the capacity building road map would become an integral part of the functioning of various departments.

Wipro's Asia pacific and Middle East Vice President and consultating services Anurag Srivastava said these two maps would enable the state government to outline concrete action plan which would enable the state to move ahead on the path of e-governance.

This apart the road map, he said would also reinforce the good governance agenda of the state and contribute towards the realisation of economic and human development goals of the state.

State Information and Technology Minister S N Patra and Chief Secretary Subash Pani were present at the function.
