Meghalaya recovered Chinense made grenade

Shillong, Jun 14 (UNI) Meghalaya Police has seized a Chinese made hand-grenade and incriminating documents from the residence of Peter T Marak, leader of the newly formed militant outfit Liberation of Elite Action Force in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district.

Last night, police sources said they raided the house of Marak at Songsak in East Garo Hills district following a tip-off the presence of Marak in his residence. But the former state police constable turned militant leader managed to escape before the arrival of the police.

However, the police while searching the house of the militant leader, who is believed to have 'close-links' with the Naga insurgent group NSCN (I-M), recovered a Chinese made hand grenade and incriminating documents.

Police said the LAEF was formed mainly to extort money from businessmen and coal exporters to Bangladesh from Ghausapara in Garo Hills.

Meanwhile, police sources said the manhunt to nab Marak and other members of the outfit is in full swing.
