MCX index closes 4.40 pts down at 2121.86

Mumbai, June 14 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 4,847.75 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2121.86 down by 4.40 points (-0.21 per cent).

The total trades registered were 77,592.

The MCX metal index closed at 2151.87 up by 10.81 points (10.81 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2624.18 up by 4.08 points (0.16 per cent), and MCX agri index closed at 1589.51 down by 28.11 (-1.77 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 3,952.26 crore, including various MCX gold at Rs 2,565.62 crore and MCX silver at Rs 1,386.63 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 54,961. The open interest for gold was 6,617 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 2,21,855 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 528.44 crore with 13,696 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 20.25 crore with 527 trades and MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 113.93 crore with 1,582 trades.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 82.21 crore with open interest of 2,70,900 BBL.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 25.61 crore with 989 trades and mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 19.17 crore with 1,043 trades while chana registered a turnover of Rs 13.36 crore with 416 trades.

MCX gold Aug-06 closed at Rs 8,533 down by Rs 35 (-0.41 per cent), Oct closed at Rs 8,680 down by Rs 42 (-0.48 per cent) and Dec closed at Rs 8,807 down by Rs 64 (-0.73 per cent).

MCX silver July-06 closed at Rs 15,099 up by Rs 158 (1.05 per cent), September closed at Rs 15,478 up by Rs 182 (1.18 per cent) and December closed at Rs 16,016 down by Rs 283 (-1.77 per cent).
