Major fire in factory

Ahmedabad, Jun 14 (UNI) Property worth Rs several lakh was gutted when a major fire broke out in a plastic-clothes wreckage factory in labour dominated Behrampura of the city late last night.

However, there was no causualty But, according to a preliminary estimation property worth Rs ten lakh was gutted in the fire.

According to the fire brigade sources, the fire broke out in the factory around midnight and soon engulfed four surrounding shops too.

Fire brigade sources said the flames were put out after four-hour-long fire-fighting operation carried out under the direct supervision of chief fire officer M F Dastoor and his deputy Rajesh Bhatt.

Three fire-fighters and 14 water-trankers were pressed into services to control and to put out the fire.

Though the exact cause of fire was not known, it is believed that the clothe-wreckage must have first caught fire.
