LIC 'Zindagi Express' to arrive in Kerala on Jun 15

Thiruvananthapuram, June 14 (UNI)''Zindagi Express,'' the special train of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) marking its golden jubilee, will arrive here tomorrow, Senior Divisional Manager L Ajith Kumar said today.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said the train was flagged off at Delhi railway station on April 26 by Union Minister of State for Finance P K Bansal and its journey would conclude at Delhi on July 17 after covering 39 stations throughout the country.

During its two-day halt here, the LIC had arranged for various activites like spot quiz, free medical camp, magic show and lucky draw.

The train, with bogies converted into exhibition halls for the dedicated use of LIC, would be received here by Kerala Railway Minister M Vijaykumar. Mr Panniyan Raveendran, MP, would grace the occasion, he said.

To a question, Mr Ajith Kumar said the division had crossed the annual first premimum business for 2005-06 achieving Rs 330.96 crore, recording a remarkable 182.35 per cent growth over last year.

The division had sold 250,392 polices as against 179,909 last year.

Stating there was no parallel for LIC's achievements in claim settlements, he said 99.24 per cent of the claims in respect of survival benefits and maturity were settled on or before date which is a world record.
