Govt hospitals to appoint more doctors: Minister
Chennai, Jun 14 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will appoint 1,500 doctors next week in Government hospitals and regularise the services of 1,700 doctors who were appointed on contract basis, Health Minsiter K K S S R Ramachandran said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the 1,500 doctors, who were already selected through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) would be posted at various government hospitals next week.
He said the services of 1,700 doctors, appointed during the previous AIADMK regime on contract basis, would be regularised and they would be placed on time scale.
The Minsiter said the vacant posts of 2,500 nurses in various hospitals would be filled up soon. The government hospitals also faced shortage of technicians and these posts would be filled up in a phased manner.
He said the Madurai Rajaji government hospital, which was providing treatment for maximum number of out-patients would be expanded to meet the needs of the patients.
A complaint cells would be set up in all the government hospitals to enable the patients and the public to complain about any irregularities in the hospitals.
