Gold crashes by over Rs 430 per ten gm

New Delhi, June 14: Following weak overseas advices, gold for the first time sold at the lowest level in the last two months and nosedived by Rs 430 at Rs 8,590 per ten gms at local bullion market today.

In the oversas market, spot gold briefly fell to around 543 dollar per troy ounce today, the lowest since March 14, 2006, before bouncing back to 569 dollar an ounce.

Gold futures in New York declined by 7.3 percent yesterday, the biggest downfall in more than 15 years.

On April 15, the gold breached the Rs 9,000 per 10 gms barrier for the first time and silver touched Rs 19,300 per kg.

The yellow metal crossed Rs 10,000 mark on May 5, 2006 when silver touched Rs 20,800 a kilo level.
