DGP asks cops to implement MV Act effectively
Chennai, Jun 14 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Director General of Police D Mukherjee today directed all city police commissioners and district superintendents of police to enforce the provisions of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act effectively to minimise road accidents.
In a press release here, Mr Mukherjee said accidents were on the rise not only due to increase in population but also higher vehicle density besides use of dazzling headlights.
To overcome this, the police chief wanted the concerned police officials to educate vehicle owners to avoid use of dazzling lights and paste black stickers/paint a portion of headlights to avoid accidents during the night hours.
He also ordered them to distribute notices both in English and Tamil to vehicle owners and drivers to inform them about the dangers of using such lights.
