CPI(M), CPI to share RS seats

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 14 (UNI) The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala today decided to share the two Rajya Sabha seats it expected to win in the June 26 byelections among the CPI(M) and the CPI.

The CPI(M) nominee for the seat will be its Thrissur District Secretary P R Rajan, LDF Convenor Vaikom Viswan told mediapersons after a meeting of the Front State Committee. The CPI is yet to decide its candidate.

The meeting dismissed as ''politically-motivated'' the allegations against Public Works Minister P J Joseph in the implementation of a housing project for the poor during his tenure as Housing Minister during the previous Nayanar Government.

The meeting requested the government to provide a job to one of the family members of Jogi, the tribal who was killed in police firing during a agitation at Muthanga of Wynad district in 2002.
